COUNCIL OF AGENCIES COMMITTEE: The purpose of this committee is to assist the over 200 not-for-profit and local governmental agencies in Irvington, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown that are working to improve the quality of life in our community. Responsibilities of the Committee include:
  • Encouraging and assisting agencies in the formation of Community Collaboration Groups, to share ideas, identify community needs, propose solutions and find areas for cooperation.
  • Assisting agencies in maintaining their web pages on the Council of Agencies website at: www.councilofagencies.org including placement of their events on the Council’s website calendar, posting volunteer and youth employment opportunities, listing needs for emergency assistance, and discussing issues on the community bulletin board.
  • Assisting the Publicity Committee in promoting the activities of the Council through the preparation of the monthly calendar and articles for publication in local media.

CLUB NEWSLETTER: Members of the Committee are responsible for communication of club activities to the membership. This is accomplished by gathering of information for publication in a newsletter, which includes announcements of new programs and activities, highlights of previous meetings, general club news and items that promote fellowship. The newsletter is distributed electronically and as necessary by U.S. mail.

 

PUBLICITY COMMITTEE: The committee is responsible for promoting the awareness of the Rotary Club in the community. Its primary activities are the writing and placement of articles regarding Rotary Club activities, weekly meetings and speakers. Most recently it has included the writing and placement of articles in local media about Club activities and the members of the Rotary sponsored Council of Agencies. The committee coordinates with the Speakers Committee and the Photography Committee for placement.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY COMMITTEE: The committee is responsible for coordinating with the Publicity Committee and maintaining a Club ‘scrap book’ and photo album. All members of the Club are asked to participate in the taking and collection of photographs related to the Club’s activities.

 

SPEAKERS COMMITTEE: The committee is responsible for scheduling speakers for the meetings with support from the membership. The committee coordinates with the Publicity Committee in sending weekly notices of meetings to the press.

 

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: Develop ways to bring in new members and contact members who have not been attending meetings to try and get them back.

 

INVESTMENT COMMITTEE: The committee is responsible for overseeing and making recommendations to the board relative to the investment accounts of the Club Foundation and the Breitbarth (Scholarship) Foundation.

 

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: The committee is responsible for the nomination of officers and directors as vacancies occur. They present a slate of candidates at a regular meeting of the Club one month prior to the Annual Meeting.
