President's Message:
|

|
As we enter the final month of 2008, we are at the midpoint of our Rotary year. We had a wonderful Person and Organization of the Year breakfast at Tappan Hill. Many thanks to all those involved in making the affair a success. I would like to give a special "Thanks" to Caroline Hay and her staff at Tappan Hill. Her hospitality and generosity made the event extra special.
Well the fruit is on its way, right Gerry? A pulp filled thanks to Gerry Barbalet and Chip Wagner for getting the fruit orders out.

The first meeting in December is our kick-off or should it be quack-off for the Duck Derby!! Join our sponsors, Hose Engine Company and of course our feathered friends as we prepare for our second annual race in the park!
Remember as we celebrate Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa- to also remember those among us who are hurting and need our help as Rotarians, professionals/business people and neighbors.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a HAPPY& HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
Club News:
We were busy in November! We completed our annual fruit sales fundraiser under Gerry B and Chip's guidance. Delivery will be in early December. We also produced a new club brochure which David distributed to members at our November 19th meeting. At that meeting Margaret and John B gave us a review of our website and taught us how to use our members area. Everyone was asked to login to this area and update their member profile, especially your birthday so we can share it on our newsletter. And yes your birth year stays secret! Should you need help with the website, email Margaret at mblack@ambins.com. With all this, we also enjoyed some special events!
Paul Harris Award Luncheon
On November 5, 2008 we held our Paul Harris luncheon where we honored Miriam Frandsen. What a surprise it was for her. And a joy for the rest of the club to share in honoring her with the award. Miriam's daughter and a friend were guests and shared in our special day. We also honored our 50 year members, Stephen Byelick and Norbert Fluhler. Our District Governor, Eric Storberg presented the awards and pins.

Person of the Year Breakfast
On November 12, 2008, the club held it's Person of the Year breakfast at Tappan Hill, recognizing Bob Kimmel and the Hudson Independent. Many thanks to Mimi Godwin, JoAnne Murray, Donna Puff, Carolyn Hay and Laura Murray for their work to make this event so memorable. Also to Howard Smith for being such a fantastic emcee resulting in lots of smiles and laughs.

And we had a special visitor at our event, Rudolf Choi, Charter President of one of several Rotary Clubs in Taiwan. He sent these photo's from his visit.

Wine & Jazz - The date has been set for March 30, 2009. Work has begun on this fundraiser with Mimi starting to put together gift baskets for the silent auction. Please give your silent auction items to her. Or you can make a monetary donation for a gift basket. Please make your check payable to the Tarrytown Rotary Foundation and note it's for the silent auction.
Duck Derby - Our newest fundraiser date has also been set for April 25, 2009 in conjunction with the YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Sponsors are Mahopac National Bank, Tarrytown Honda, Hudson Independent and Hitachi. The kickoff is December 3, 2008!
Every Rotarian Every Year - Don't forget to send your check for the Foundation's Annual Program Fund which is running now. There are thousands of charitable organizations working throughout the world that make a positive impact on those in need. But your Rotary Foundation is the only charitable organization funded by contributions from Rotarians, for programs and projects identified by Rotarians, and administered by Rotarians at the project site. The Rotary Foundation is YOU. The District goal is to receive a $100 contribution from each club member. With a $100 contribution or more each year you become a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Please send your check today to:
