President's Message:

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

While September held its own uncertainties locally and globally, October isn't looking much better. On a brighter note, the Swim For Life Across The Hudson was a success and Rotary was responsible for providing thirteen volunteers for the event. Our Rotary District held two events - a primer on membership and a presentation of several Rotary International Foundation programs. Our district is involved in such projects and our club can become involved with similar projects also.

As if financial woes weren't enough, this October will not see baseball in either New York stadium! But, back to the good news…committees are forming and making plans for the Rotary year. We will have a meeting dedicated to initiating new members and acquainting those new members, as well as some current members, with the doings of our club and the obligations members have to insure the success of those doings.

If you know of an interesting speaker to dazzle and educate our membership, please let Stan Biloon know so he can schedule a speaking date. Yes, you are also eligible and encouraged to present a topic of interest/help to our club.

The Board is pleased to announce this year's recipient of the Tarrytown's Rotary Person of the Year is Robert Kimmel and The Hudson Independent newspaper . We will honor them at a special breakfast meeting on Wednesday November 12, 2008 at Tappan Hill. There is no charge for Rotary members, guests are $50. We hope to elevate this event to include more of the community and earn our club some well deserved publicity.

Rotarily,
Joe G.

Hudson River Swim for Life - A big thank you to Stan Biloon, Margaret Black, Steve & Janet Byelick, Joe Goscilo & his ENTIRE family, Jack Jolly, Jim McGough, JoAnne Murray, Donna Puff and Joyce Stanton for volunteering their time to help at the Hudson River Swim.  There were lots of burgers and hot dogs to be cooked and the clubs partipation help make the swim a huge success.
